10.2 Check-in Workflow
Identity verification & open-water-swim competence review → medical-consultation desk → insurance-document verification → race-packet collection.
1. Identity & swim-competence verification. The athlete's ID is photographed for records and the signed Athlete Waiver is submitted. A valid government-issued ID is presented for identity verification and checked against the open-water-swim eligibility roster.
Athletes without a valid open-water-swim certificate must complete an on-site swim-competence test before being allowed to compete. Athletes holding a CTA amateur-athlete technical-rating certificate, or valid results from triathlon or open-water-swim events within the previous three years, are exempt from the swim-competence test.
Note: Passing the swim-competence review establishes the minimum eligibility criteria only. It does not guarantee that an athlete can safely complete the triathlon; athletes must make their own judgement based on their physical condition and bear full responsibility for their own safety.
2. Medical consultation. Athletes shall complete a pre-race medical examination and monitoring in accordance with the CTA Pre-race Medical Examination Guidance for Triathletes (Appendix 1), ensuring their health condition meets competition requirements. Please bring your medical-examination report and ECG record to check-in. Athletes with concerns about whether their health condition meets competition requirements may consult on-site medical staff at registration.
3. Signed Athlete-Waiver submission. All athletes must submit a signed Athlete Waiver (Appendix 2) at registration. Minor athletes must submit a waiver co-signed by themselves and their legal guardian at registration. Athletes aged 70 and above must submit a waiver co-signed by themselves and their spouse/child at registration.
4. Insurance requirements.
(1) Event-organiser-provided group insurance. The Organising Committee arranges a group accident- and sudden-illness insurance policy for all registered athletes, which is included in the entry-fee order and covered by the entry fee. (Athletes aged 70 and above must purchase their own insurance.)

The insurance covers the athlete for one day before the race, race day, and one day after the race. The indemnity limits for accident death/disability, sudden-death/disability and sudden-illness death for special populations (minors and the elderly) comply with the regulations of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission.
(2) Additional personal insurance. In addition to the group insurance arranged by the organiser, every athlete must separately purchase personal accident- and sudden-illness insurance for the race period. In the event of an accident, the required medical-emergency and related costs are borne by the athlete. The personal insurance must at minimum meet the following conditions, otherwise participation is not permitted: the coverage period must be at least one to two days before the race (depending on arrival time), race day and one day after the race; the coverage must include, but not be limited to, accidental death and disability, sudden-illness (including sudden death and heatstroke) death and disability, accident-related medical expenses and sudden-illness-related medical expenses; and the indemnity limits for accidental death/disability and sudden-illness death/disability must each be no less than CNY 500,000, while the accident-medical and sudden-illness-medical indemnity limits must each be no less than CNY 50,000.
For special populations (minors and the elderly), the indemnity limits for accidental death/disability and sudden-illness death/disability comply with the regulations of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission. Athletes may extend or increase the insurance coverage period, scope and amounts as they see fit.
5. Race-packet collection. The race packet includes event documents and the athlete-kit bag. Verify that the race-bib number is correct. Bibs must be collected by the athlete in person. Timing chips can be functionally tested on site.
